GRAPHIC DESIGN

  1. How to Make Your Poster Stand Out by Scientifica. A practical (though dense) checklist  for poster considerations.

  2. NCEAS Science Communication Resource Corner. Functional guides for creating color palettes for your data and ensuring that they are color-blind safe.

  3. Visual Metaphors by Milani Creative. Helpful visuals of big concepts (full portfolio on Instagram or LinkedIn).

PERFORMANCE

  1. The Science Behind Presentation Nerves. A broad overview with accessible techniques to prepare for presenting a talk or poster.

  2. iBiology Share Your Research Course. A 5-week (7.5-15 hour) online program that covers building and delivering data talks.

GRANT WRITING

  1. A Practical Guide to Writing a Ruth L. Kirchstein NRSA Grant. Clear and quick context that is applicable for many grants and proposals. May also be available as a book through your academic institution.

  2. Style: The Basics of Clarity and Grace by Joseph M. Williams. Foundational writing skills from sentence to paragraph to global structure.

GENERAL SCIENCE COMMUNICATION

The Link by the Alda Center for Communicating Science. Periodic articles on approaches to and current research on science communication best-practices.
